Become a RIE Associate

The RIE® Associate Pathway

In the last three years, we have been pleased that so many RIE Foundations: Theory and Observation™ students have been interested in the Pathway. Your expressed interest, in addition to our students already on the Pathway, creates a healthy future for the sharing of Educaring® worldwide.

At this time, in order to maintain the integrity of Magda’s Gerber’s Educaring Approach, we need to limit the number of people starting the process so that we can focus on the people currently in the Pathway. For this reason, Foundations Instructors have been asked not to nominate any new Pathways students at this time. We value the close relationship that develops between Pathways students and their RIE Associate Mentors, and we want to ensure that we are respectfully attending to the successful completion of their journey.

While we pause entry into the Pathway for new students, a task force is working on creating an updated version of our process which will help with the increased interest in RIE. This collaborative effort, led by Associates who are Mentor instructors, with input from past and current Pathway students, will allow us to re-open the Pathway in a reinvigorated way.If you have already taken the RIE® Foundations: Theory and Observation course and are interested in the Pathway in the future, please make sure to keep copies of your Certificate of Completion, final self-evaluation and final instructor evaluation. They will be instrumental in moving forward. Here are the other elements that are also essential for consideration:

  • a deep knowledge and appreciation of the Approach
  • a strong interest and commitment in the work of the RIE organization
  • an interest in sharing this work with parents and professionals
  • experience in mentoring, teaching, or working in groups with adults
  • a basic education of child development, obtained by taking college courses in the field
  • interpersonal communication skills in working with people in a respectful, sensitive, and articulate manner

Thank you for your interest in RIE. If you have any questions, please reach out to Abigail Marsters, our Pathways Coordinator, for more information. Her email is abigail.marsters@rie.org
