Authentic Relationships in Group Care for Infants

This book sets out to draw to the attention of those involved with group care for infants and young toddlers the ideas and approaches of the child care practitioners Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber. We describe their work with infants and toddlers in Hungary and the US and the literature and research underpinning it as an introduction to a series of chapters written by contemporary practitioners from the organization that Magda Gerber founded in California: Resources for Infant Educarers® (RIE®).

Editors Stephanie Petrie and Sue Owen, and RIE® Associate contributors explain the main elements of Magda Gerber’s Educaring® Approach and illustrate how it can be applied in a range of settings.
